“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom.” — Colossians 3:16

Our Mission
& Vision.

Our Mission

To cultivate a Christ-centered place of learning where students grow in knowledge, character, confidence, and community — held accountable to one another and prepared for a life of faithful purpose.

Our Commitment

We’re here to walk alongside families, not in front of them. Our commitment is to equip and encourage you as you build a strong foundation of faith and knowledge in your children — raising kids who are thoughtful enough to ask hard questions, courageous enough to stand by the answers, and compassionate enough to love the people who disagree.

Our Community

We do life together with genuineness — showing up for each other, cheering each other on, and building something that goes far beyond a classroom. At WCHC, families aren’t just enrolled, they’re invested. That’s what makes this place feel like home.

Here’s what we believe at the core: homeschooling isn’t just about academics. It’s about raising kids who know who they are, why they’re here, and Whose they are.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom.” — Colossians 3:16

That’s exactly the kind of community we want this to be. One where learning and faith and joy are all rooted in the Word of Christ — where wisdom isn’t just taught, it’s lived together.

With prayer, a lot of grace, and a community walking alongside each other, we think something really special can happen here.

We are so thankful you’re joining us. Here’s to a year of learning, laughter, and growing together in faith.

— The WCHC Team

Built different.
On purpose.

WCHC isn’t a traditional school, a drop-off co-op, or just a social group. It’s a carefully designed community where academics and faith are woven together — and where every family has a meaningful role to play.

Christ-centered foundation

Biblical worldview woven through every subject, discussion, and interaction.

University-style co-op

Structured campus days on Tues & Thurs paired with guided at-home learning.

Small group environment

We intentionally stay small so every student is known, encouraged, and shepherded.

Socratic discussion-based learning

Students don’t just receive information — they wrestle with ideas and defend their thinking.

Parent-supported, community driven

Parents are active contributors, not passive observers. This community works because families show up.

Five commitments that
shape everything.

Love Truth

Rooted in a Biblical worldview, we cultivate a deep love of truth in every discipline.

Think Critically

Equipped to reason with wisdom and clarity — asking hard questions and standing by true answers.

Pursue Wisdom

Seeking understanding in all disciplines, knowing all wisdom finds its source in God.

Serve Others

Living out faith through humble action — each family contributes to the whole community.

Live Faithfully

For Christ, in every season of life — academic, relational, and spiritual growth together.

Structured learning.
Rooted in faith.

WCHC blends engaging in-class instruction with meaningful at-home learning — creating a balanced and enriching educational experience. Each subject is thoughtfully interconnected and taught through a Biblical worldview, helping students see truth, purpose, and unity across all areas of study.

Built on what
truly matters.

WCHC is a non-denominational, orthodox Christian community. We serve families from a variety of church backgrounds who share a common commitment to the essentials of the Christian faith.

  • One sovereign God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
  • Salvation through Jesus Christ alone
  • The Bible as the authoritative Word of God
  • The Church as the body of Christ
  • Parents bear primary responsibility for the education and discipleship of their children

The people behind
Wimberley Christian.

JW
Janelle Whitman
Co-Founder & Academic Director · High School Science & Personal Finance

Janelle earned her BA in Education K–6 from the University of South Florida and spent eight years teaching in the public school system — experience that shaped her deeply as an educator. Those years in the classroom gave her a firsthand understanding of how kids learn, what they need, and how to make difficult subjects come alive. She left traditional education feeling called to bring that same passion and expertise into the homeschool community, where she could teach with more intention and root everything in a biblical worldview.

As co-founder and Academic Director of Wimberley Christian Homeschool Community, she shapes the curriculum and culture that keeps WCHC running with both excellence and purpose. A homeschool mom herself to a 17 and 15-year-old, she understands this journey from every angle. Her approach is simple: teach with intention, point everything back to God, and make sure every family feels seen and valued.

JR
Jessi Rock
Co-Founder · Director of Outreach & Communications · High School Language Arts

Jessi holds a Bachelor of Social Science from Southern Methodist University. She is the founder of A Small Miracle Foundation, a nonprofit established in 2014 that provides charitable childcare to families affected by cancer.

A co-founder of WCHC, Jessi serves as Director of Outreach and Communications — helping shape the vision, cultivate community, and guide the co-op’s growth while keeping it rooted in the relational, family-centered foundation it was built on.

For the past seven years, Jessi has homeschooled her daughters grounded in a biblical worldview. Outside of education, she is also a Texas real estate professional — driven by serving others faithfully and building meaningful, Christ-centered connections.

MD
Marcie Downing
History & Geography Instructor

Marcie brings warmth, roots, and a whole lot of heart to Wimberley Christian Homeschool Community. She’s called Wimberley home for 12 years, building a life centered on faith, family, and community. Married for 32 years and mom to three.

Before homeschooling, Marcie worked in early childhood education as both a teacher and assistant director at two private preschools. For the past five years, she’s educated her youngest with intention and love.

When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll find her deep in God’s Word, tending her garden, or planning an event that brings people together. She has a gift for creating spaces — physical and relational — where people feel welcome and known.

OW
Owen Whitman
PE Instructor · Wednesday Math Tutor

Owen is Janelle’s son and a familiar, friendly face around Wimberley Christian Homeschool Community. Currently a Senior taking dual credit classes through Austin Community College, Owen is already working toward his goal of attending a university to study business and finance.

When he’s not hitting the books, you’ll likely find him at Wimberley’s local pickleball hangout, where he works part time. Owen brings that same energy and enthusiasm into the community as a tutor during Wednesday’s Open Study Math sessions and as the instructor for Physical Education on Fridays. He’s a great example of exactly the kind of young person we’re hoping to help shape here — driven, grounded, and going places.

TK
Tavia Kidwell
Beginning Dance Instructor

Tavia started dancing at just three years old, and it quickly became a lifelong passion. Over the past 23 years, she has had the opportunity to teach, perform professionally, and own three dance studios in the DFW area.

Today, she is a proud mom of two — both of whom were homeschooled — with one now in college and the other entering high school. Recently, she started an online dance program called Homeschool Dance Creations in hopes of providing opportunities for homeschool children everywhere to experience the joy of dance right from home.

Tavia looks forward to seeing the children of Wimberley Christian Homeschool Community grow in confidence, joy, and creativity through dance.

Partnering
with us.

At Wimberley Christian Homeschool Community, parents aren’t just drop-off drivers — you’re partners. This community works because families show up, pitch in, and invest in something bigger than their own household. Here’s what that looks like practically:

Parent Involvement

We ask that parents stay engaged and present, especially on campus days:

· Class Days (Tues, Thurs & Fri) — Drop-off is welcome as long as another parent has agreed to monitor your child. We just ask that pickup is timely — our teachers and volunteers have families too!
· Open Study (Wednesdays) — Optional. If your student attends, parents are expected to be on-site to assist unless prior arrangements have been made and communicated.

While you’re here, we want you to feel at home. We have two on-site parent spaces set up just for you:

· Quiet Work Area — Need to get some work done while the kids are in class? We’ve got you.
· Fellowship Area — Come sit, sip something warm, and get to know the families around you. Some of the best parts of this community happen right here.

Volunteering

Wimberley Christian Homeschool Community runs because of the heart and hands of our families — and volunteering isn’t just encouraged, it’s part of what makes this place work. We ask every family to commit to at least one ongoing volunteer role, or a combination of shorter-term contributions throughout the year.

We’ll work with you to find a role that fits your strengths and your schedule — something you’ll actually enjoy. We want this to feel like a privilege, not a chore, because when you’re serving in your sweet spot, it shows.

We are always looking for passionate parents who feel called to teach. If you have a subject you love and a heart for investing in students, we’d love to hear from you. Fill out our Teacher Interest Form and let’s start the conversation.

Your involvement keeps WCHC Christ-centered, well-organized, financially sustainable, and genuinely enriching for every child who walks through our doors. If you ever have questions or concerns, please come talk to us directly — we believe in open communication, mutual respect, and staying unified in Christ, even when things get messy.
